Spirochetes of Conflict / 2019
Casid’s Polaroids are both inspired by and in dialogue with a group of Andy Warhol’s Polaroids which feature male nudes. These are installed together on the Chazen’s mezzanine level. Here Casid reframes Warhol’s images, taken on the precipice of the AIDS crisis, with images of hers, taken in response to the current Lyme disease outbreak, similarly focused in the area around Fire Island, New York.
