On the latest episode of the GWS IN ACTION podcast, Dr. Kate sits down with Gender & Women’s Studies graduating senior, Brianna Washington. While at UW, Brianna’s work has centered on the intersections of race, gender, and health, with a particular focus on Black women’s experiences within medical and institutional systems. Outside of class, Brianna also has worked as the cofounder and vice president of For the Femmes, a student organization where she leads panels and discussions centered on Black feminism, self-care, and social justice. Additionally, Brianna serves as an executive member of FLOW: Feminist Leaders for Opportunity and Wellness, an initiative that promotes feminist leadership and student wellness on campus. Brianna continues her studies in the fall at the University of Michigan School of Public Health in Ann Arbor, where she will be working on a Masters in Health Services Administration through the Department of Health Management and Policy, and earning a certificate in Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health.
