The Center for Research on Gender and Women in the Department of Gender and Women’s Studies is excited to invite students to the first event by the GWS Student Leadership Collective: FLOW Feminist Leaders for Opportunity and Wellness within the 2025-2026 De Cleene Leadership Forum!
Jamie Priti Gratrix, Department Administrator for Gender and Women’s Studies at UW-Madison, will be leading a “Maitri Practice,” a meditative session that connects personal wellbeing with leadership values and skills. Through guided mindfulness and social connection, paired with leadership insight and acumen, Gratrix will engage with issues of gender, leadership, and student leadership development.
Jamie Priti Gratrix is a department administrator who cares deeply about how work feels to the people doing it. Jamie’s leadership practice focuses on preventing burnout rather than managing it, by redesigning systems using liberatory design instead of asking workers to absorb the unsustainable pressure created by current systems. Jamie believes wellbeing is created through clarity, mutual support, and realistic pacing, and brings a grounded, compassionate lens to conversations about leadership and care in the workplace.
The De Cleene Student Leadership Series is a multi-pronged series that includes:
- facilitated workshops by professionals
- mentoring opportunities
- a speaker series
-
a student collective
This series supports student leadership development through discussion and application of topics such as creating networks, motivational skills, barriers to success, approaches to communication, and other leadership training. The De Cleene Leadership Forum is dedicated to leadership development, research, and advocacy on behalf of gender equity, as well as to the promotion of leadership locally, nationally and globally.
