Please save the date Friday, March 13, 2026, 9:00am-12:10pm CST for a Parallel Virtual Event at the UN CSW 70 Forum! “Missing and Murdered: Seeking Justice and Healing for Women and Relatives” is an interdisciplinary discussion on the disappearance or murder of Indigenous and marginalized women and girls through a lens of situating justice and healing as interconnected imperatives.
The CSW 70 Parallel Event offers a unique opportunity to explore the shared and distinct contexts of gendered and political violence, including femicide, domestic and sexual violence, examining how communities, institutions, and advocates are challenging impunity, reforming legal systems, and nurturing collective healing. By convening a transnational, intergenerational dialogue, the event will explore how local and global partners are translating pain into policy, advocacy, and educational reform that can sustain justice and peace.
This parallel event will be hosted by UNESCO Co-Chairs on Gender, Wellbeing, and a Culture of Peace at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA, the 4W Initiative for Women & Wellbeing at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA, the Gender Mainstreaming Directorate (GMD) Makerere University Kampala, Uganda, the United Nations Association of the United States of America (UNA-USA) Dane County Chapter, Wisconsin, USA, the Higher Education Resource Services-East Africa (HERS-EA), Uganda, and the Ethics of Care Initiative at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA.
