On Wisconsin Magazine published this story about GWS and LGBTQ+ Studies Certificate alum Elise Rylander (’12).
Elise created her nonprofit Out There Adventures (OTA), which she began brainstorming during her LGBTQ+ Studies capstone course. “Knowing what a profound impact that time outside had for me, especially when I was coming to terms with my queer identity, [I wanted] to be able to help other kiddos have that access as well.” OTA’s mission is to “create a space in which LGBTQ+ youth can explore and inhabit their own identities.”
Elise credits her GWS degree as serving an important role in her professional goals; read more about her story here.
