Anna Ravis is double-majoring in Gender & Women’s Studies and Global Health and getting a certificate in Health Policy.

1. Why did you choose GWS?
As an aspiring health care provider, I chose the GWS major to help me implement a holistic approach to patient care. I am seeking a comprehensive education and knew that GWS would complement my science classes, helping me make meaningful connections across disciplines. I believe that my impact as a practitioner will be greater with broadened and multifaceted perspectives.
2. Has GWS changed your approach to your involvement (on or off campus) during college? If so, how?
GWS has changed my approach to navigating campus by teaching me to never enter a space or conversation with assumptions. It has strengthened my ability to think critically about the many contributing factors that shape each individual’s lived experiences. The support from my GWS peers and professors has instilled confidence in me to realize my potential. This has inspired me to do the same for our greater campus community.
3. How has GWS shaped your future plans?
My future plans have been shaped by GWS by motivating me to build communities of care and support in the medical field. I feel better prepared to enter the women’s health field and inspired to incorporate activism into my work. GWS has taught me to think creatively with intention, which is valuable throughout my life and career.
