Dear GWS Community,
We condemn the intimidation and threats against our esteemed department member, Professor Sami Schalk. As a department, we reaffirm our condemnation of white supremacy, police violence, and all forms of racism. We ally ourselves with Professor Schalk and affirm support for human life over property and inanimate objects, particularly in this moment when white terrorists are targeting Black organizers, especially women, LGBTQ people, and youth, in our town and across the nation. We also condemn the threats made against the department as a whole for our work on behalf of social justice and anti-racism, and remain unwavering in our support for academic freedom and freedom of speech.
