Biography

Sarah Anna Antillon Amplo (she/they) is a first-generation Filipina American from New York City. She received a Master of Arts in Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies in 2024 and a Bachelor of Arts in 2023 from the University at Albany, SUNY. Her master’s thesis titled ‘Into the New World: Queer Asians, K-pop, and Representation’ explored the ways in which K-pop content becomes a source of representation beyond stereotypical and heteronormative media portrayals of Asians that exist within the Western world.

As a queer Filipina, her academic and professional work is deeply personal as she explores the constructions of race, gender, and sexuality in the Filipinx American diaspora. Her intention is to develop herself as a scholar-activist within a lineage of strong Filipinx American scholarly voices.
