Pronouns:  she/hers

Originally from Milwaukee, Jenny Fierro is a second year MA student with backgrounds in Literature, Gender and Women’s Studies, and legal advocacy. She has spent her academic career interweaving the three, and as a result, this has led to an array of interdisciplinary interests. Motivated by Indigenous feminism, Black feminist thought, and Mujerista scholarship, she hopes to expand her research by studying testimonio and storytelling through poetry and prose as a legitimate form of knowledge production. Guiding her research is Gloria Anzaldúa’s Borderlands, a collection of autobiographical and historical essays which theorize issues of identity, spirituality, and decolonialism through monstrosity and pain.
