Biography
Maisy Harriet (they, them) is a multi marginalized queer person from Philadelphia. Maisy multiple methodologies including oral histories, literary analysis, and archival research with a focus on Queer, Trans, and Disability Studies. Disability Studies and working with disabled people directly will be essential to my research. They hope to research how power operates in encounters involving marginalized bodies by studying dominance hierarchy in penetrative sex acts. Sexual encounters surrounding marginalized bodies provide a basis for deconstructing normative practices of power when pleasure is involved. Sexuality is often stripped from disabled people. They believe the way dominance is interpreted when disabled bodies are sexualized will reveal how marginalization affects power.
