The Department of Gender & Women’s Studies extends our heartfelt thanks to Professor Judy Houck for her leadership and dedicated service as Chair.
Over the course of her tenure, Professor Houck fostered a spirit of collaboration, championed academic excellence, and navigated challenges with grace, determination, and strength. Under her leadership, the department saw significant growth in research, student engagement, program development, as well as faculty and staff hires. Her commitment to fostering an intellectually vibrant environment has enhanced our department in countless ways – supporting faculty and staff, mentoring students, and guiding us through times of both growth and challenge.
Professor Houck’s leadership has been marked by a deep understanding of the importance of interdisciplinary work, community engagement, and the ongoing pursuit of equity. Her impact will be felt for years to come, and we are confident that the foundation she helped build will continue to sustain the success of our students, faculty, and staff.
