Sophia Grams-Weston is majoring in Genetics & Genomics and getting a certificate in Gender & Women’s Studies.
- Why did you choose GWS?
I chose to minor in G&WS because I plan to go into OB/Gyn field where women’s and LGBTQ+ health is very important. I felt this minor would help broaden my understanding and empathy for future patients and it has, It has taught me so much about politics, womens health, etc. - Has GWS changed your approach to your involvement (on or off campus) during college? If so, how?
GWS has helped me communicate better and teach those around me. It has made me stop and question how myself and the systems I’m apart of can be more inclusive. Which has been very important as I am a peer mentor and I also work with patients from all kinds of backgrounds. - How has GWS shaped your future plans?
Having this minor and my major in genetics has helped me figure out what kind of doctor I want to be! (Aka OB/Gyn)
