Two GWS professors among 48 professors honored with Vilas professorships and awards

Gender & Women’s Studies professor Judith Houck was awarded the Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professorship! Twelve professors were named to Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professorships, an award recognizing distinguished scholarship as well as standout efforts in teaching and service.

Gender & Women’s Studies and Chicanx/e and Latinx/e Studies professor Aurora Santiago Ortiz was honored with the Vilas Early-Career Investigator Award! Eighteen professors were given this award that recognizes research and teaching excellence in faculty who are relatively early in their careers.

These awards recognize standout research, teaching and service. These awards allow our professors to continue working on their research and books.
